2022 ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME CLASS

St. Johns High School Athletic Hall of Fame - Class of 2022

Congratulations to the Class of 2022 who was inducted into the St. Johns High School Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, October 14.

John Brown ('91), Douglas Knight ('54), Casey (Rost) Danzy ('01), Sandra (Terrell) Jacobs ('87), Richard Vitek ('69)

Rich Vitek (Football, Wrestling): Earned 4 varsity letters; football team captain; All-Conference in football; coached football for 12 years; coached wrestling for 2 years; served as Assistant Principal for Student Activities for 10 years; established the Athletics and Student Activities Department at SJHS; 1969 SJHS Graduate.

John Brown (Wrestling): Team MVP; 7th in the state in 1990; 1991 Conference, District and Regional Champion; 1991 Individual State Champion; 1st undefeated State Champion in school history (52-0); wrestled at Muskegon Community College; 1991 SJHS Graduate.

Casey Rost-Danzy (Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball):  Earned 10 varsity letters; All-State in soccer, 2-Time All-State in basketball; 2001 Lansing State Journal Female Athlete of the Year; 2001 SJHS  Female Athlete of the Year; 2-Time Michigan Girls Academic All-State; 4 Year basketball player at  Western Michigan University; MAC Freshman of the Year, 3-Time All-MAC First-Team, MAC Tournament MVP, MAC Player of the Year 2004; 2-Time Kodak Honorable Mention All-American; graduated as WMU’s Leading Scorer (2,061pts); 2017 Western Michigan University Hall of Fame Inductee; played professionally in Cyprus, Iceland, Luxembourg and Switzerland; 2001 SJHS Graduate.

Douglas Knight (Baseball, Basketball, Football, Track):  Earned 15 varsity letters, basketball team captain; 2-Time All-Conference in basketball; 3-Time All-State in basketball; 1952 set new single game scoring record (31pts); football All-Conference; previously inducted in the SJHS Hall of Fame for the 1949-51 Football Teams and 1953-54 Boys Basketball Team; 1954 SJHS Graduate.

Sandra (Terrell) Jacobs (Cross Country, Track):  Earned 6 varsity letters, team captain track; 2-time team MVP in Track; MVP in cross country; 6-Time All- Conference track, All-Conference cross country; 6th Place in 1600 M Run  in 1987 Class “A” State Finals; 1987 SJHS Female Athlete of the Year; 4-year member of the Grand Valley State University cross country and track teams; 2-time GLIAC conference MVP, 2-time GLIAC All Academic Team; 4-Time GLIAC conference champion; 2-time NCAA Nationals Qualifier 1500 M Run; 1990-91 GVSU Charles H. Irwin Student Athlete of the Year; 1987 SJHS Graduate.
