Project Scope
The May 7 bond proposal would address safety & security, a new Early Childhood Center, Building & Learning Efficiencies, and Athletics & Fine Arts Facilities.
Below is a list of projects that the bond would fund at each building.

Riley Elementary
Riley Elementary has seen significant increases in student enrollment in its 57-year lifetime and is now reaching its maximum capacity. Space, infrastructure, and security issues would all be addressed with the proposed improvements.

- Secure entrance and office vestibule
- Security camera upgrades
- Rekeying and selective door hardware improvements
- Expansion of door access control system
- Fire suppression upgrades
Building & Learning Efficiencies
- Classroom additions to accommodate class sizes, create space for art and music opportunities
- Main entrance enhancements
- Renovations to existing classrooms
- Media Center reconfiguration
- Kitchen upgrades
- Additional office and meeting spaces
- Interior upgrades: flooring, ceilings, casework, and classroom furniture
Electrical, mechanical, and plumbing upgrades, including wiring for a portable generator - Site and parking lot improvements
New Early Childhood Center
Preschool would be moved to a new Early Childhood Center at Oakview's site with age-appropriate classrooms and playground.
Eureka Elementary
Eureka is 66 years old. Bond funds would be used to first bring safety and security measures up to current standards and then to address the aged classroom and meeting spaces as well as exterior site issues.

- Security camera upgrades
- Rekeying and selective door hardware improvements
- Expansion of door access control system
- Fire suppression upgrades
Building & Learning Efficiencies
- Renovations to existing classrooms and spaces for art and music opportunities
- Additional office and meeting spaces
- Interior upgrades to flooring, ceilings, casework, and classroom furniture
- Electrical, mechanical, and plumbing upgrades, including wiring for a portable generator
- Site and parking lot improvements
- Playground Improvements
New Early Childhood Center
Preschool would be moved to a new Early Childhood Center at Oakview's site with age-appropriate classrooms and playground.
Gateway Elementary
Gateway’s building is aging. Improvements would better support building capacity and best practices in security. Along with space and safety improvements, bond funds would update traffic flow, parking lots, and playground equipment.

- Classroom addition to open up space, creating smaller class sizes
- Interior upgrades to flooring, casework, and classroom furniture
- Electrical, mechanical, and plumbing upgrades
- Site improvements including parking lots, a new entrance drive
- Playground enhancements
Oakview Elementary
The bond proposal would fund security and site improvements to Oakview, enhancing safety and day-to-day efficiency. It would also provide a new Early Childhood Center on Oakview’s current site.

New Early Childhood Center
All preschool and child care programs would move to this new facility with age-appropriate classrooms and playground.
St. Johns High School & Middle School
The site of St. Johns High School and Middle School is a center for academic, extracurricular, and community activities. Bond funds would allow further advancements to these spaces to better accommodate activities there.

- Security camera upgrades
- Rekeying and selective door hardware improvements
- Expansion of door access control system
Building & Learning Efficiencies
- New equipment for Metal Shop and Wood Shop
- Electrical, mechanical, and plumbing upgrades
- Improved flooring, partial ceiling upgrades and temperature control in the gyms
- Classroom flooring upgrades
- Site improvements including parking lot and athletic field updates
Athletics & Fine Arts Facilities
- New multi-use turf field at the current soccer field
- New restroom facility
- New wrestling room
- Improved lighting for multi-use field and track
- Fencing improvements
- Resurface track
- New and additional tennis courts
- General site improvements including utilities, sidewalks, and increased accessibility
- New musical instruments
- Upgrade auditorium lighting and stage
Transportation
- Construction of replacement transportation building
- New buses

Did you know?
We had to cancel school at Eureka in December because of a power outage. There was no generator to help!
With bond funds, we could equip the older elementary buildings with wiring for a portable generator to prevent this from happening.
